Despite being out for more than a year, Elden Ring Items continue to be surprisingly Tarnished around the world. The latest originates from a seemingly docile enemy that loves to summon spirits to harass you instead of fighting by itself. I am obviously referring to the Spirit-Caller Snail. However, apparently, this particular snail shouldn’t really summon spirits to complete its dirty work--it’s perfectly able to end a Tarnished person.

ZeroSama420 found this the hard way inside a recent foray into Spiritcaller Cave. The cave’s name originates from the astounding quantity of Spirit-Caller Snails that will summon wolves, soldiers, and Disciples of Okina to battle you. What you should do is ignore the summons and search for that snail because the spirits disappear when the snail dies. ZeroSama420 appears to be fighting several NG+s deep, therefore we can forgive they have to eliminate the spirit of Okina to create an opening to obtain the snail.

However, after locating the Spirit-Caller Snail, it leaps atop ZeroSama420 and plunges its long neck straight through its helmet, chewing the unfortunate Tarnished to death. It's a shocking display of aggression, especially because the snail typically just waves its little head around to manage the spirits it summons.

"How are my 7th players I couldn't know they could do that," ZeroSama420 asks. Many within the comments also noted they'd never witnessed the Spirit-Caller Snail attack such as this, with a few bringing up "flashbacks" from the brain suckers from Bloodborne.

According to Fextralife, The Spirit-Caller Snail also offers a spit attack where it'll "shoot a gob of harmful spit at you." The recommendation would be to attack the Spirit-Caller Snail to help keep it stunned, thus preventing it from both summoning more spirits and retaliating physically using its deadly grab attack.
