All Diablo games possess a secret cow level, right?

According to Blizzard, d4 items don’t, yet. But that hasn’t stopped players from joining forces so that they can uncover the mythical space.

Diablo 4

In the increase to Diablo 4’s record-breaking launch, development chief Rod Fergusson insisted the action role-playing game doesn't include a secret cow level, or any secret level for instance, because Blizzard desired to keep the tone and feel “grounded”.

"We desired to make sure it felt authentic towards the kind of gothic, dark themes we now have. We've been really centered on trying to keep it as grounded as you possibly can," Fergusson told Kinda Funny Games. "For that reason, there is no secret level in Diablo 4 that individuals might be looking for according to previous games. But I am not saying there will not be in the future."

Now Diablo 4’s in the wild, it appears an entire chunk of the player base simply will not believe Blizzard. It's deliberately misleading players, they insist, attempting to throw them from the scent. That’ll keep your secret cow level a secret for an extended and make its eventual discovery much more of a surprise. Who likes you the truth, anyway?

Undeterred, redditor Altnob collected the different theories and discoveries Diablo 4 players came up with and dumped them in a detailed post that reads such as the ravings of the conspiracy theorist.

diablo 4 buy gold puzzles are pretty entertaining,” the post begins. “We've found some things that have led us to think the cow level is real.”

What follows is talk of hidden quests, mysterious portals, and screenshots of NPCs saying curious things. Someone stated there's a mention of the 'Oxen Gods' in Ked Bardu. There’s even mention of datamined items some players reckon will form a part of the future mission to unlock the cow level.

Admittedly, this part from the hunt sounds that appears to be related to a cow level. There’s a Bloody Wooden Shard item having a W carved quietly and a Musty Tome. Fans reckon the shard is a mention of the Wirt’s wooden leg, and also the Musty Tome is really a Tome of Town Portal. Diablo 2 fans will remember both were required to access Moo Moo Farm in Diablo 2.

Taking things even more, redditor fogbound hunted down all of the cow spawns around the globe of Sanctuary. It turns out most cow spawns are where fields are visible in the spotlight, and many cows spawn in categories of three. “By three they are available?!” frogbound croaked. “Relogging after slaughtering the moos will sometimes lead to less than three cows spawning. So this may not entirely be true anymore.”

The cow thing continues but doesn’t lead anywhere. “I will take a look at more things after work,” Fogbound said, determined. Upon returning, fogbound popularized drawing a cow head into the spotlight of Sanctuary. Maybe that is too much conspiracy. “It's the Bermuda Cowangle!” Aurabora quipped.
