How would you fancy a 2-day wedding extravaganza in a breathtakingly beautiful country house? Sounds good, right?!

"We always assumed that people would get married back in Cambridge, where we met at university. However, after visiting Dewsall we immediately knew it had been the venue for all of us."

"The house and also the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and we loved the way the team at Dewsall were flexible in allowing us to produce a wedding that felt personal and unique."

Jess' dress design through the brilliant gives an attractive nod towards the elegant types of the mid to late 1900s, using its delicate scalloped edged lace, secured with dainty buttons, and gathered in the waist by having an embellished silver ribbon.

"I tried on plenty of styles but couldn’t locate one that quite suited me so that as we were leaving, my mum acquired one from the only styles I hadn't tried on – this became the dress!"

"I chose my FeelTimes dress as I love lace, and I love how delicate the gown is. I didn't think I would want color on my wedding gown, but I thought the belt added a unique and vintage style touch."

"I also loved the back of my dress and also the fact it was built with a train which was beautiful but manageable at the same time. My dress is comfortable and lightweight to wear, that was another important point for me personally as I thought about being able to dance." Here

Jess gifted all of her bridesmaids another pair of blue earrings to wear using their wedding day outfits, too.

"We met within our first year at university and started dating shortly after. Xav proposed on the beach while I was on holiday in Colombia. It was completely unexpected – so much in fact that I thought it had been a joke when he got recorded on one knee!"

"We originally planned to have a 2-year engagement, but got so excited after having visited Dewsall, we realized that people didn't wish to wait that long (and which certain grandparents and members of the family strongly agreed with!). We were engaged just for over a year before our wedding."

Xav wore a deep blue suit, that they wore had a white shirt and cufflinks, along with a blue floral print tie. The Best Man and groomsmen wore matching suits hired from and ties. I love the way the ties didn’t match but complemented one another beautifully using their different blue floral designs.

"I had six bridesmaids, so locating a dress everyone liked was always going to become tricky. Luckily we found blush bridesmaid dresses. These were great because the girls could put them on in whatever style they liked best."

On Saturday, the pair chose to get married outside, but underneath the cover of the canvas. The aisle was lined with pots of lavender, and also the carpet was scattered by using it, too, which made for any lovely, scented walk down it for Jess and her dad.

They were serenaded by Jess' friend John, singing Ombra fu from Handel's opera Serse, with piano accompaniment from Xav’s cousin Sophie.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Enjoy it! No one knows if anything goes completely wrong, also it will pass so quickly. Just benefit from the moment and don't get caught up with what should or shouldn't be happening."
