My fiancé and I graduated senior high school together, but we're far from your typical senior high school sweethearts. We lived just one mile apart for many of our young lives. That being said, we'd barely have thought about each other friends in those days. I moved away a short while after college as they stayed within our hometown and built an existence for themselves.

After multiple failed relationships on both ends, we reconnected via Facebook. I thought I was back within our small town temporarily and I needed a gym to sort out in the meantime. He had just happened to determine a recent post of mine and realized I was back and asked how I have been. It was simply simple small talk, as all old acquaintances do. Neither one people had plans of anything apart from a friendship, we'd both recently become single coupled with full intentions to remain that way for some time. He ran the neighborhood gym and offered me a pass. I took a few weeks to go by his place and get it because I am skeptical of men in general for the reason for that period of my entire life. To make a long story short, I finally chose to go get the gym key. When I reached his house, he'd the key ready, written on it was my senior high school nickname. I smiled. Then I realized he'd ordered pizza for himself. I guess he saw me eyeing it while he offered me a bit of pizza along with a drink. So, I skipped a fitness center and stayed. The connection and conversation from that certain night were all it took. The rest is history. It is true; when you are aware you know…you’ll feel it. It didn’t take very long before both of us admitted that.

Finding “the one” appeared like an impossible task at any given time in my entire life. I finally stopped looking and I wound up on his doorstep not understanding it. It’s a sense that you can’t quite put in words. It hits you want a ton of bricks and also you know there isn't any going back from this. Had something gone differently, our paths might not have aligned at the right time, when at all. It completely restored my faith and unleashed my dreams. Everyone should feel that. Finding your person feels as though the missing puzzle piece pops directly into place.

One of my favorite hobbies is hiking. Derek is terrible at planning just about everything, even while detailed because he is. It was January 6th in Kentucky, therefore it was cold. He had repeatedly inquired to make sure I didn’t plan anything for your Saturday while he wanted to go hiking with my buddy and sister-in-law. I didn’t think a lot of it, actually, I almost suggested we simply stay home and be comfy up to a movie. We visited Cove Springs in Frankfort Kentucky, it’s a little park and was nearly empty on that day due to the dreary weather. We were finishing the hike and we all chose to take pictures close to the waterfall. My sister-in-law insisted she acquires one of just Derek and me. The picture was taken, and I began to walk away, simply to have him grab my hand and pull me back. I turned around just in time to determine him making one knee. My sister-in-law had champagne ready and recorded the whole thing.

We both knew we wanted a seaside wedding because, in the end, it’s the most popular place on earth. Linen was our go-to for that groom and groomsmen; we chose deep blue pants as a contrast to the sage green dresses or cheap wedding dresses girls would be wearing. The guys all wore white linen shirts, and Derek wore a matching navy linen jacket to create himself apart. The look fits perfectly with pristine beaches and also the glow from the sunset. And Everyone was barefoot. The look fits perfectly with pristine beaches and also the glow from the sunset.

My dress was selected by my mom—she had them go straight from the mannequin. We visited David’s Bridal simply to get a concept of what I liked (I had already pinned 100 feeltimes dresses on Pinterest). I went along with one idea and announced something different, however, it was the gown of my dreams. I didn’t want to go off! It was an ideal amount of sparkle and flow, elegant and beachy… the gown was so very me.
