LSU pro day: Fournette, Adams strengthen top-5 case for draft Published: Apr 05, 2017 at 10:03 AM Chase Goodbread D.J. Fluker Jersey LSU held its pro-day workout Wednesday, and with just a few schools with limited prospect appeal for scouts , this was the last opportunity for NFL clubs to watch first-round caliber prospects in a pro-day setting. With RB Leonard Fournette and S Jamal Adams as the primary attractions, the event drew plenty of NFL personnel. A few things we learned from the LSU workout: 1. Fournette, Adams advance their causes. Whatever chance LSU has of placing both RB Leonard Fournette and S Jamal Adams in the draft's top five picks, it's looking a little better after Wednesday. Adams, unhappy with his 4.56 40-yard dash at the NFL , re-tested Wednesday and clocked an official time of 4.45, . What could it mean for Adams? NFL Network draft expert Mike Mayock sees him, at least, as a lock for the top 10. "Today, I had him at 4.38 (seconds in the 40). All the scouts in my group had the same thing. You're talking about a 212-pound safety, runs sub-4.4. He's a top-10 pick. Great movement skills. Leader, captain. You got to love this kid. I think he's a top-10 pick all day long, regardle s of what he Ezekiel Ansah Jersey ran." As for Fournette, he drew some unwanted attention when he at the combine last month. He said it was merely water weight at the time, but he obviously felt like he in trimming down to 228 for Wednesday morning's workout. In an effort to convince scouts of his ability to catch the ball, which he didn't often get to display in LSU's offense, Fournette participated not only in running back drills but in wide receiver drills as well. And the result was impre sive. "I wanted to see him catch the football and run routes. He did both extremely well," Mayock said. "Remember, he only had 41 career receptions at LSU. They didn't ask him to do much on third down; that's been the criticism. But he really caught the ball well, very smooth, had no problems." 2. Five head coaches make trip. With two elite draft prospects in Fournette and Adams, plus a number of other intriguing prospects, it was K.J. Wright Jersey no surprise that LSU's pro day drew its share of NFL head coaches. Five made the trip: the ' Sean Payton, the ' Mike Tomlin, the ' Todd Bowles, the ' Mike Mularkey and the ' Jim Caldwell were in Baton Rouge. Also in attendance were GMs Jerry Reese of the and Jon Robinson of the . All 32 teams had representatives at the workout. 3. Dupre expects Friday call. WR Malachi Dupre isn't in the conversation to be a first-round selection, but he said following his workout that he believes he'll , which would be in the second or third round. He also with the , and . Dupre re-tested in the 40 on Wednesday David Moore Jersey , and , per the school. He clocked a 4.52 at the combine. 4. Running again. CB Tre'Davious White, like Dupre, didn't do much on Wednesday, standing on his combine numbers in most testing, but he did run the 40-yard dash again. The official result was a 4.52, , which is a bit off the 4.47 clocking he had in Indianapolis. Baylor held its pro day Wednesday, as well.
