We were both new come to the area and weren’t quite sure how to start – fortunately, our hairdresser recommended Sophia Grace like a number of her clients had found their prom dresses there.

How can you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

I think the very fact both people only visited Sophia Grace to locate our perfect dresses says everything! We desired to keep our dresses a surprise for every other on our big day so we visited a few weeks apart. The Sophia Grace team was wonderful around both. We felt very welcome and relaxed, as well as very grateful for the guidance and support we received. We were super impressed using the alterations designed to our gowns and tried to feel in very capable hands. All of the team visited great lengths to assist us to keep information on our dresses from one another – which we actually appreciated! We also found our bridesmaid’s dress there and hair accessories. We were impressed using the breadth of range available and quality.

Sarah find the very first dress that they tried on! She wanted a Princess-Eugenie style dress and located one immediately which matched what she’d imagined. She tried additional dresses to ensure it was definitely “the one”, but had felt very early that it had been the perfect dress.

Emma’s experience was quite different. She tried some completely different styles and wasn’t quite sure which suited her best. Thankfully the Sophia Grace team was available to share a few recommendations and selected a few dresses to test. With their help, an ideal dress was discovered, which was from the same designer that Sarah had chosen, although completely different in style. (The team had thoughtfully taken Sarah’s dress from the rails to ensure that Emma couldn’t pick the same one).

As we married on 28th Dec our wedding was built with a distinctly festive feel. We chose ivory dresses to create some warmth alongside gold, rich reds, greens, and purples.

What made you decide upon your selected venue?

We knew that people wanted an intimate winter wedding so had picked our date prior to the venue. We knew that people needed somewhere which may be easy for individuals to reach in unpredictable Scottish weather! after which somewhere we knew would take a look at its best at Christmas time. We’d seen plenty of photos of The George at Christmas and were delighted once we’d visited the King's Hall and saw how majestic it had been, … after which tried their amazing food which sealed the offer.

Our wedding was very romantic, felt really festive and would be a great celebration with friends and family. It felt extra special as so few people had been able to see one another for a few years because of the pandemic. Everyone is in a party mood! As two-bride weddings can break convention just a little we decided to go a little further and walk down the aisle to become married together. It felt very special to become entering the area with all of our friends and family waiting to determine us. We reached lean on one another and enjoy that lovely moment together. We decided on a candle-lit early afternoon ceremony which meant we have some lovely photos during the cold month's sun and sunset. Teetering across George St in Louboutins using the local buses stopping to cheer us on will remain in our memories for a long period! The twilight photo was worthwhile. We rounded off our evening with Teannaich ceilidh's band which our guests loved – an easy thing like having live music felt a genuine treat after lockdown making everyone do it now in the party area!

Our own “first look” moment immediately prior to the ceremony was our favorite part of the day because it had been a moment only for us (and our lovely photographers!). We are extremely grateful to the Sophia Grace team for helping us create this. Everyone within the shop went off their method to keep information on each other’s gowns a secret in the other. We really are thankful because it had been such a beautiful moment whenever we saw one another’s dresses for the first time.

Did Covid-19 Impact the wedding? If so please inform us more

We did need to postpone our wedding once, for just one year – we find the same date within the following year and were lucky to get at the go-ahead the second time around. We realize that not all couples happen to be so lucky and also have had to postpone several times, including some of us. Sadly it meant that not every one of us could be around due to international travel restrictions … however it means that people get to possess a big party again to celebrate and we’re definitely wearing our dresses again!
