Introduction

The headlight control module or headlight switch module is an essential electronic component that controls the operation of headlights and related systems in modern vehicles. With advancements in automotive technology, headlights and exterior lighting systems have become more complex over the years. A dedicated headlight control module is now needed to intelligently manage different lighting modes and features. In this article, we discuss the functions and importance of this module and how it helps improve vehicle safety.

What is a Headlight Control Module?

Headlight Control Module also known as a headlight switch module, is an electronic control unit found in the fuse box or wiring harness of vehicles. Its main purpose is to operate and switch the headlights, running lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting systems based on input from various sensors and switches.

The module receives power directly from the vehicle's battery. It then processes signals from the headlight switch, wipers, rain/light sensors and other inputs to determine the appropriate lighting conditions. Based on these inputs, it will turn on the low or high beams, side markers, parking lights, fog lights and more as needed.
