Chu first joined Blizzard in the year 2000. and the company hired him as a quality assurance analyst for World of Warcraft. In 2002. he was an associate game designer for World of Warcraft . He left Blizzard for the first time in 2004. to join the local south California studio Obsidian, where he worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II and World of Warcraft 2 as a designer.

Chu made a return to Blizzard at the end of 2005 to serve as an experienced game designer for WoW: The Burning Crusade, World of Warcraft, World of Warcraft: Reaper of Souls in addition to WoW: Warlords of Draenor. He later become the lead author for World of Warcraft and its upcoming sequel World of Warcraft .
